SAP HANA Technical Specialist | S/4HANA Transformation

12 Month Contract | Brisbane

We're seeking an experienced SAP HANA Technical Specialist to join a major SAP S/4HANA transformation program. This role is focused on the underlying SAP HANA platform, database optimisation, performance tuning, and technical remediation, rather than traditional ABAP development.
n
Working as part of a large-scale ECC to S/4HANA migration, you will provide deep technical expertise across SAP HANA architecture, data structures, custom code remediation, and HANA database optimisation.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Provide expert technical advice on SAP HANA architecture, in-memory computing, columnar storage and data structures.
n
Analyse and optimise database performance, SQL execution plans and HANA queries.
n
Support custom code remediation activities to ensure ECC developments are compatible with S/4HANA.
n
Design and implement code pushdown strategies using SAP HANA capabilities.
n
Develop and optimise CDS Views and support AMDP-based solutions where appropriate.
n
Work with development and architecture teams to maximise S/4HANA performance and scalability.
n
Provide expertise across SAP HANA Studio, SAP Web IDE and HANA database administration activities.
n




Identify opportunities to improve application performance through database optimisation and modern HANA development techniques.

Required Skills & Experience
n
n
Strong expertise in SAP HANA Database Architecture and administration.
n
Deep understanding of HANA data structures, columnar storage and in-memory processing.
n
Experience with SAP HANA Studio, Web IDE and HANA database management.
n
Demonstrated experience implementing and optimising SQL and HANA-native solutions.
n
Strong knowledge of Code Pushdown, including CDS Views and AMDP.
n
Experience supporting ECC to S/4HANA migration and remediation activities.
n
Ability to troubleshoot complex performance and database-related issues.
n
Excellent stakeholder engagement and technical advisory skills.
n
Experience in large-scale government or enterprise SAP environments.
n
Knowledge of SAP Basis, S/4HANA architecture and HANA migration strategies.
n
Exposure to SAP BTP and modern SAP development frameworks.
n
Experience with sizing, performance benchmarking and database optimisation initiatives.
n
