Job Description We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Hotel Accountant to join our Finance team, supporting ibis Sydney Barangaroo and Novotel Newcastle Beach .
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an important role in supporting the financial operations of both hotels, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional to gain valuable exposure across two properties, work closely with operational teams and contribute to the hotels' overall financial performance.
Key Responsibilities Prepare and process monthly financial reports and month-end closing activities in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant awards, superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and legislative requirements.
Oversee accounts payable and cashiering functions, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
Assist with Profit Loss reporting, budgeting and forecasting, including monitoring financial performance against expectations.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies and company procedures.
Process accounts receivable transactions, monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue invoices.




Conduct financial and departmental variance analysis, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
Work closely with hotel operational teams to identify financial trends, risks and opportunities for improved commercial performance.
Support internal and external audit processes, including the preparation of required documentation, schedules and supporting information.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting efficiencies across both properties.
Qualifications Skills Experience Previous experience in hotel accounting, payroll, hospitality finance or a similar commercial finance environment.
Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, reporting and reconciliation processes.
Positive analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful commercial insights.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both Finance and operational teams.




Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Sound knowledge of superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax and relevant Australian legislative requirements, and experience with Zambion payroll system will be highly regarded.
Knowledge of SunSystems, Opera Cloud PMS and Q A reporting tools is desirable.
Experience with hotel finance systems and/or Accor systems will be advantageous.
