The ideal candidate will be reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering quality work are essential.
Your role will include, but is not limited to: Carefully remove damaged body panels, components, upholstery, and accessories to gain access to damaged areas for repair.
Strip and assess vehicles for repair, identifying all visible and supplementary damage before commencing repairs.
Remove dents and restore damaged panels using appropriate hammering, pulling, and panel beating techniques.
Straighten damaged vehicle bodies, chassis, and structural components using mechanical and hydraulic equipment.
Replace severely damaged sections with new or second-hand body panels, ensuring correct fitment to manufacturer specifications.
Cut, weld, and join replacement metal sections using appropriate welding equipment and repair techniques.
Fill dents and depressions using plastic body filler, then file, grind, and sand repaired surfaces to achieve a smooth finish suitable for painting.
Fit repaired or replacement panels and refit body hardware, including door locks, trims, mouldings, and other vehicle fittings.
Assess repaired areas to ensure correct panel alignment, body contours, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with manufacturer and industry standards.
Assist in the restoration, fabrication, and repair of custom-built, vintage, and specialty vehicles where required.
Prepare repaired vehicle surfaces for painting through sanding, grinding, masking, and final surface preparation.
Conduct final quality inspections to verify repairs meet safety, workmanship, and customer requirements before completion.
Maintain accurate job records, including repair progress, parts used, and photographic documentation using iBodyshop or similar workshop management software.
Inspect tools and workshop equipment, perform routine maintenance, and promptly report any faults requiring repair.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures by using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting hazards, incidents, and near misses.
Work independently or with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with other workshop personnel to ensure efficient repair workflows.
Applicants need: Relevant trade qualification AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant experience.
Alternatively, at least three years of full-time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification.
Strong attention to detail to ensure precise panel alignment, smooth surface finishing, and high-quality repairs.
Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and hydraulic repair equipment safely and effectively.
Capable of working independently while managing workloads and meeting repair deadlines.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with workshop staff and maintain accurate repair documentation A salary of $79,000 - $85,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
