Job Description Senior Legal Support / Family Law Paralegal | Mildura, VIC | In Office We are recruiting an experienced Senior Legal Support / Family Law Paralegal for a full-time, in-office opportunity based in Mildura, Victoria .
This role would suit someone with strong family law support experience who is highly organised, proactive and confident managing the systems, communication and daily workflow that keep legal matters progressing.
You will work closely with a senior family lawyer and play a key role in maintaining file progression, client communication, deadlines and day-to-day practice organisation.
About the role You will support a range of family law matters, including: Separation and divorce Parenting matters Property settlements Financial matters arising from separation Mediation and dispute resolution Court and procedural matters Family violence-related matters General family law file management and client support You will provide high-level legal support while helping ensure clients remain informed, files stay current and deadlines are managed carefully.
Key responsibilities Managing family law files and ensuring matters continue to progress Maintaining court dates, filing deadlines and procedural timelines Preparing and organising legal correspondence and supporting documentation Coordinating client appointments, conferences and mediation dates Maintaining regular communication with clients between key milestones Liaising with courts, counsel, experts and other relevant parties Managing diary commitments and scheduling Triaging incoming correspondence and identifying matters requiring attention Drafting routine correspondence for review Maintaining accurate file notes and matter records Monitoring outstanding documents,
instructions and next actions Preparing and managing daily and weekly task lists Raising invoices and identifying matters requiring costs-related attention Escalating urgent or sensitive matters appropriately Providing clear workflow updates and handovers Requirements Client communication Family law clients may be dealing with separation, parenting disputes, financial uncertainty or other difficult personal circumstances.
We are looking for someone who communicates with warmth, professionalism and sound judgement while maintaining explicit boundaries and confidentiality.
What we are looking for Previous experience as a Family Law Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Senior Legal Secretary Strong experience supporting family law matters Familiarity with parenting, property and divorce matters Experience managing court-related documentation and procedural deadlines Strong diary and file management skills Excellent written and verbal communication High attention to detail Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines Confidence dealing with clients and senior legal professionals Strong judgement and discretion A proactive working style and the ability to identify what needs to happen next Experience using Smokeball or similar legal practice management software will be highly regarded.
Benefits Location: Mildura, Victoria Work arrangement:
Full-time, in office Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 5:00pm Employment covered by the Legal Services Award **** Classification and salary based on experience and responsibilities Annual remuneration review, or as required Relocation assistance of up to AUD $5,000 may be available for suitable candidates Candidates based in Melbourne, Adelaide or the Riverland who are able to travel regularly to Mildura may also be considered Salary: Competitive remuneration based on experience, responsibilities and applicable classification under the Legal Services Award ****.
We are particularly interested in experienced family law support professionals who take ownership of their work, communicate well with clients and are confident keeping matters organised and moving.
Requirements Based in South Africa Available to work 20 hours per week during AWST office hours Previous wills and estates experience Law degree preferred Candidates without a law degree must have strong, relevant paralegal experience.
Previous experience supporting a law firm or legal professional Understanding of legal terminology, document preparation and file management Strong written and spoken English Professional and confident telephone manner Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow legal templates accurately Strong organisation, time management and follow-up skills Ability to work independently in a fully remote position Reliable computer, stable internet connection and backup connectivity Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality Experience supporting an Australian, UK or other international legal practice will be highly regarded.
