The Macleay Hotel is a 126-room hotel at 28 Macleay Street, Potts Point, a short walk from Sydney's CBD and the harbour. Accommodation is our core business - we host leisure, corporate and long-stay guests year round.

About the role
n
We are seeking a Hotel Manager to take full operational responsibility for the property. This is a hands-on management role covering every department - reception and reservations, housekeeping, maintenance, security and guest services - together with the hotel's budget, purchasing and accounting functions. You will report directly to the owners and lead the on-site team. This is a full time position of 38 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

Organise and control the day-to-day operations of the hotel across all departments
n
Direct reservations, reception, room service and housekeeping activities
n
Recruit, roster, train and supervise staff across all operational departments
n
Prepare and manage budgets, control costs, and oversee accounting and purchasing
n
Manage room rates, inventory and distribution channels
n
Supervise security arrangements and property maintenance
n
Review guest satisfaction and resolve escalated complaints
n
Ensure compliance with work health and safety and other applicable regulations
n

Skills and experience required
n
n




A Bachelor degree or higher (Australian or overseas equivalent) in hotel management, hospitality management, tourism including hospitality management subjects, or business administration
n
At least one year's recent full-time experience managing a hotel, motel or comparable accommodation property, with responsibility across all operational departments rather than front office alone
n
Demonstrated staff leadership, rostering and budgeting ability
n
Working knowledge of property management and channel management systems
n
Strong written and spoken English
n
A second language is highly regarded, given our international guest mix
n

Availability
n
This is a seven-day operation. The successful applicant must be available to work both Saturday and Sunday as part of the standard roster, regular afternoon and evening shifts from 2:00pm to 10:00pm, and public holidays. Applicants who are not available for weekend and evening work will not be able to perform this role.

What we offer

$80,000 - $85,000 per annum plus superannuation, based on a full-time 38-hour week
