This is an chance to work on a genuine aircraft development programme where your engineering decisions will directly influence the design, build and evolution of the aircraft.
The Opportunity
You will be responsible for the mechanical and structural design of the aircraft airframe, working across the full development lifecycle from concept and detailed design through to prototyping, testing and production.
This is a hands‐on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and seeing their designs move from CAD into production.
You will work closely with talented engineers across electrical and mechanical manufacturing to develop a high-performance UAS platform.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to airframe and structural design for a unique UAS programme
Develop detailed 3D aircraft components and assemblies using Siemens NX
Design structural components
Undertake engineering design calculations and support structural analysis and validation
Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to transition designs into physical hardware
Support prototype build, integration, ground testing and flight‐test activities
Investigate and resolve structural and mechanical issues during development
Contribute to continuous optimisation of aircraft performance, reliability and manufacturability
About You
You will be an Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineer with meaningful experience designing aircraft structures or complex aerospace hardware.
You will ideally bring:
Degree qualification in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Proven experience in airframe or aerospace structural design
Strong hands‐on experience with Siemens NX - essential
Strong 3D CAD and engineering drawing capability
Understanding of aircraft structural principles, loads and structural integrity
Experience taking designs through prototype, manufacture and test
Experience working with metallic and/or composite structures
Strong understanding of design for manufacture and assembly
A practical, hands‐on engineering mindset
The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
Experience in UAS, UAV, RPAS, aircraft, defence or advanced aerospace programmes would be highly advantageous.
Why This Role?
This isn't a role where you'll be designing another component for an established product line.
You'll be joining a fast paced programme, with a highly capable team of engineers.
If you're an aerospace engineer who wants ownership and to contribute to something meaningful this is it!
