Teacher of Interior Design
Location:
Kingscliff Campus, Kingscliff, NSW
Contract:
Permanent part time (21 hrs per fortnight)
Salary Package:
$111,798 – $132,585 salary package – includes base salary ($98,499 – $116,81, paid pro rata, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
About the role
We're seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Interior Design educator to inspire students through their creative learning journey. In this role you will share your industry experience, and your knowledge and passion for interior design to help students build their skills, gain qualifications, and enhance their employability. Your guidance will support students in achieving their career goals in Interior Decoration and General Design.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging learning activities and practical projects that translate theory into practice.
- Deliver high-quality lessons and assess learning outcomes, providing constructive feedback.
- Develop curriculum resources and assessment materials aligned with national standards.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning setting.
- Participate in professional development and stay current with industry trends and teaching methods.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support senior teachers, and contribute to the TAFE NSW teaching community.
About You
- You are a qualified Design professional with a genuine passion for design education.
- You have hand drawing, technical and CAD (SketchUp) drafting skills and experience in teaching or training.




- You are an engaging communicator able to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- You are adaptable, organised and committed to delivering exceptional learning experiences and mentoring emerging designers.
- You hold a Certificate IV in Interior Design or Interior Decoration, or equivalent.
To be successful
- Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills, and at minimum hold a Certificate IV in Interior Design or Interior Decoration, or related field, or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years post‐qualification industry experience relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
- Hold evidence of the required teaching qualification to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET).
- Be prepared to develop and maintain your VET knowledge and skills as well as your industry currency, and trainer/assessor competence.
Additional qualifications (Highly regarded)
- A Diploma (or above) of Interior Design or related field.
- Skills in 3D design and digital rendering tools.
- Competence in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
