We are currently seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to take a key leadership role within our busy Shepparton workshop.
n
This is a permanent full-time opportunity for an experienced Workshop Foreman, Leading Hand or highly capable Senior Heavy Vehicle Technician looking to take the next step in their career.
n
Working within one of the largest and most modern heavy vehicle workshop facilities in the Goulburn Valley, you will take a hands-on role in driving workshop efficiency, productivity and quality, while providing technical leadership and mentoring our team of technicians and apprentices.

The Role
n
As Workshop Foreman,



you will take a hands-on leadership role on the workshop floor, helping ensure work moves through the workshop safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
n
A key focus of this position will be improving workshop productivity and efficiency through effective job allocation, technical support, communication and supervision.
n
You will act as a senior technical resource for the workshop while helping develop the skills and capabilities of the technicians and apprentices around you.
n
This is an opportunity to have a genuine influence on the performance of the workshop — not simply supervise it.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Coordinate and oversee day-to-day workshop operations
n
Allocate work effectively across technicians and apprentices based on workload, skills and priorities
n
Drive improvements in workshop efficiency, productivity and job flow
n
Monitor job progress and assist in keeping repairs and servicing on schedule
n
Provide technical guidance and diagnostic support on complex repairs
n
Mentor, coach and develop apprentices and technicians
n
Assist technicians with fault finding, diagnostics and repair methodology
n
Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality control and safety
n
Work closely with Service Advisors, Parts and management to minimise delays and keep jobs progressing
n
Identify and implement practical opportunities to improve workshop processes and utilisation
n
Ensure work is completed in accordance with manufacturer, dealership and safety standards
n
Help maintain a positive, professional and accountable workshop culture
n
Remain hands-on when required to support the team and keep work moving
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who knows heavy vehicles, understands how an efficient workshop should operate and enjoys helping a team perform at its best.
n
Ideally, you will have:
n
n
Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic / Truck Mechanic
n
Strong experience with heavy vehicles, diesel engines and transport equipment
n




Previous experience as a Workshop Foreman, Leading Hand or Senior Technician
n
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
n
Sound understanding of workshop workflow, productivity and job management
n
Ability to lead, mentor and develop technicians and apprentices
n
Strong organisational and communication skills
n
A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
n
High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
n
Ability to work effectively with Service Advisors, Parts personnel and management
n
A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
n
n

Desirable Licences & Experience
n
n
HR, HC or MC licence
n
VIC Roadworthy Vehicle Tester licence
n
Automotive A/C licence
n
Auto-Electrical qualification or experience
n
Previous OEM dealership experience
n
Experience with American, European and/or Asian heavy vehicles
n
Previous supervisory, mentoring or team leadership experience
n
n
These are desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
