Job Description
Kingston Human Capital are currently supporting a Gold Coast based public sector organisation with the appointment of a Senior Environmental Officer (PO4).
n
The Coomera Connector Stage 1 (Coomera to Nerang) team is responsible for completing the design, environmental referral, site investigations and review to support the delivery of the Coomera Connector project.
n
Reporting to the Project Manager, the role will be responsible for supporting environmental approvals, compliance, environmental management and sustainability outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
n
The successful Senior Environmental Officer will also contribute to the environmental governance, stakeholder engagement and reporting to internal executives.

What you will be doing
n
n
Provide high-level specialist advice regarding statutory obligations under relevant Commonwealth, State and local environmental legislation, regulations, policies and approval frameworks, including requirements under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act **** (EPBC Act).
n
Support the planning, preparation, coordination and delivery of Commonwealth and State environmental approvals, permits, conditions and environmental offsets, ensuring project activities remain aligned with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
n
Review and provide technical input into project designs, environmental assessments, environmental surveys, spatial and ecological data, Public Setting Reports (PERs), environmental management documentation and associated technical studies.
n
Review contract documentation, technical specifications, environmental conditions, approval packages, audit documentation and project briefs to ensure environmental requirements are appropriately incorporated into project delivery.
n
Identify and assess potential environmental constraints, impacts, risks and opportunities and work collaboratively with project teams and technical specialists to develop appropriate avoidance, mitigation and management measures.
n
Work with design and delivery teams to negotiate and recommend design modifications or alternative solutions where required to address environmental constraints and approval conditions.
n
Support environmental assurance activities, including the review and coordination of environmental audits, inspections, compliance assessments.
n
Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, correspondence, briefing materials, recommendations, presentations and executive advice relating to environmental matters and broader project delivery requirements.
n
Represent the project at working groups, steering committees, technical forums, stakeholder meetings and other internal and external meetings, clearly communicating environmental requirements, risks, decisions and agreed actions.

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Mandatory Requirements
n
n
A Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
n
Current holder of a 'C' class driver's licence.
n
Criminal history screening will be conducted on the recommended person for this role.
