Anything Environmental is looking for an experienced, hands-on Area Manager to oversee our established recycling centres in Airlie Beach and Proserpine.
n
This is not a desk-based management role. We are looking for someone who is visible on site, works alongside their team when required, takes ownership of the day-to-day operation and has the drive to help our depots continue to succeed and grow.
n
You will be responsible for the performance, safety, staff and daily operations of both Whitsunday locations and will report directly to the Directors.
n
About the Role
n
As Area Manager, you will be responsible for:
n
n
Managing the day-to-day operations of both the Airlie Beach and Proserpine depots
n
Leading, supervising and supporting depot staff
n
Being visible and hands-on across both sites
n
Ensuring container material is accurately counted, sorted and processed
n
Managing staffing requirements, rosters, attendance and day-to-day staff issues
n
Maintaining a strong focus on workplace health and safety
n
Conducting regular toolbox talks, workplace inspections and safety checks
n
Ensuring company procedures and operational standards are followed
n
Managing cash handling and ensuring appropriate cash-control procedures are maintained
n
Completing required daily paperwork, administration and reporting
n
Supporting our commercial customers through communication, education and feedback
n
Building relationships with existing commercial customers
n
Identifying opportunities to grow our commercial customer base
n
Maintaining high standards of customer service and depot presentation
n
Identifying operational issues and taking responsibility for getting them resolved
n
Working closely with the Directors to continually improve the performance of both sites
n

About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will need:
n
n
Previous experience managing staff and day-to-day operational issues
n
Strong leadership and communication skills
n
A positive, practical and hands-on management style
n
A strong understanding of workplace health and safety
n
The confidence to address staff performance and workplace issues when required
n
Good organisational and administration skills
n
Cash-handling experience
n
The ability to work independently and take ownership of your area
n
Reliability, flexibility and a strong work ethic
n
A genuine drive and passion to help the business succeed
n
Strong community spirit and the ability to build relationships with customers and local businesses
n
A current driver's licence - Manual
n
Forklift licence is an advantage, or you must be willing to obtain one
n

What We're Looking For
n
We are looking for a self-starter who is safety-conscious, honest, reliable and results-driven.
n
You need to be comfortable making decisions, managing people and being accountable for the performance of your sites.
n
Most importantly, we want someone who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. When the depots are busy, we expect our managers to be on the floor supporting their team — not managing from behind a desk.
n
Hours
n
This is a full-time management position, based across our Airlie Beach and Proserpine locations.
n
The position is based on 38 ordinary hours per week, with reasonable additional hours as required.
n
Weekend work forms part of the role, with every second Saturday generally required for approximately five hours, depending on operational requirements.
n
