About the role..
n
Royal Rehab is seeking a dedicatedStaff Specialistin Rehabilitation Medicine to
n join our Royal Rehab Ryde Hospital. In this key clinical role, you will provide
n comprehensive, evidence-based management for people with severe brain and
n spinal injuries, as well as those requiring general rehabilitation.
n Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will lead patient
n assessment and treatment planning to optimise outcomes and quality of life. You will
n also contribute to research, service development and the supervision and training of
n registrars and junior medical staff.
n

n a progressive and purpose-driven rehabilitation service.

Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with brain, spinal and neurological injuries, including cognitive, physical and psychosocial evaluations.
n
Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
n
Provide specialist rehabilitation interventions, including cognitive rehabilitation,
behavioural management and functional skill training.
n
Monitor patient progress, review outcomes and adjust management plans to optimise recovery.
n
Participate in case conferences, clinical reviews and multidisciplinary meetings to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
n
Contribute to research, data collection, publications and the advancement of best-practice rehabilitation guidelines.
n
Support education and supervision of registrars, junior medical staff and students, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
n
Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with professional standards, ethical guidelines and Ministry of Health requirements.
n
Liaise with patients, families, community providers and external stakeholders to support continuity of care.
n
Participate in on-call and leave cover arrangements and maintain mandatory professional development and registration requirements.

About you..
n
We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:
n
Essential Criteria:
n
n
* Medical Degree, eligible for medical registration in NSW.
n
* Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (RACP) or clear eligibility for FAFRM.
n
* Eligible for Specialist Registration in Rehabilitation Medicine with AHPRA.
n
* Demonstrated experience in the assessment and management of patients with brain and spinal injuries, and neurological conditions.
n
* Strong clinical skills in neurological examination,
neurorehabilitation,
and cognitive assessment.
n
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families.
n
* Commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of emerging trends in spinal and brain injury management.
n
n
Desirable Criteria:
n
n
* Advanced computer skills.
n
* Skills relevant to undertaking research in Severe Injury
n
* Experience in Injection therapy and management of spasticity and associated conditions.
n
n
