Job Description
The Safety and Risk Specialist is primarily responsible for strengthening safety and operational risk management across Motorserve by providing practical advice, assurance and support to leaders and teams. The role will lead the implementation and continual improvement of Motorserve's work health and safety management framework across all sites, partner with operational leaders to identify hazards, assess risks, implement effective controls and build a robust safety culture, provide safety assurance and maintain supporting risk, compliance and governance obligations, and support the proactive management of workplace injuries, workers compensation and sustainable return to work.

Key responsibilities
n
Provide specialist WHS advice and practical support to leaders, site managers and team members across operations
n
Maintain and continually improve the WHS management system, including policies, procedures, standards, tools and assurance activities
n
Plan and conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk reviews, and monitor corrective actions through to verified close-out
n
Lead or support incident and near miss investigations, identify contributing factors and ensure learnings and effective controls are implemented across relevant sites
n
Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments and control reviews for plant, equipment, hazardous chemicals, vehicles, contractor activities, work processes and organisational change
n
Coordinate the safety calendar and verify statutory inspections, testing, servicing and maintenance are completed for safety-critical plant and equipment
n
Support the identification and management of psychosocial hazards using consultation, risk assessment and appropriate higher-order controls
n
Coordinate WHS consultation arrangements, including monthly safety committee meetings, Health and Safety Representatives and toolbox talks
n
Develop and deliver safety communications, training, awareness campaigns and coaching to strengthen capability and ownership
n
Monitor safety performance, analyse trends and provide clear monthly reporting, insights and recommendations to Motorserve and IAG stakeholders
n
About you
n
Demonstrated experience in a safety specialist, WHS advisor or similar role supporting multi-site or operational environments
n
Practical experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, assurance and corrective action management
n
Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice and contemporary safety management principles
n
Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, engage workers and translate legal and technical requirements into practical operational controls
n
Experience maintaining safety systems, registers, reports and digital platforms, with strong documentation and data analysis skills
n
Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety, occupational health and safety, risk management or a related discipline
n
Working knowledge of WHS risk management, consultation, incident management and control effectiveness
n
Strong written communication, reporting and stakeholder management capability
n
Current driver licence and willingness to travel between sites, including interstate travel when required
