Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Rural Roads Maintenance team within the Infrastructure & Workplace Department.

This role is responsible for supporting Council's rural roads maintenance and construction programs, including grader operations, road maintenance activities and general labouring duties.

Full Time- Stream B- Level 1-7- $60,000 to $69,000 per annum ( depending on qualifications and experience) + Superannuation.
n
5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)
n
Monthly RDO (13 per year)

About the Role
n
The Plant Operator / Labourer – Rural Roads position undertakes a range of operational duties, including plant operation, rural road maintenance and general labouring tasks. The role supports Council's rural road network by ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
n
The successful applicant will assist with a variety of tasks, including:
n
n
Operating plant and machinery, including grader operations and final trim grading.
n
Performing road maintenance and construction activities on rural roads
n
Conducting pre-start checks and reporting defects on plant and equipment.
n
Grass cutting and vegetation maintenance along rural roads.
n
Maintenance of road signs and guideposts
n
Pothole patching and other road maintenance tasks
n
Slashing and general labouring duties




n
Assisting with litter and garbage collection where required
n
Supporting Council works programs as directed by the Rural Roads Supervisor
n
n
About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
n
n
Experience operating plant and machinery, particularly grader operations
n
Ability to complete assigned tasks within expected timeframes and maintain high work standards.
n
Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practices
n
Ability to work independenta and as part of a team.
n
Knowledge of civil construction or local government works is desirable.
n
Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
n
n
Mandatory Requirements
n
n
Current Police Clearance
n
Manual C Class Driver Licence
n
Construction White Card (required prior to commencement)
n
Current Grader Operator Certification
n
Formation Grading of Unsealed Roads Certification
n
Traffic Control or Traffic Management accreditation
n
Experience operating a range of plant and machinery
n
Certificate III in Plant Operations (Civil Construction) or similar
n
Minimum two years' experience in grader operations and final trim work
n
