About the opportunity:

A leading Australian online business is scaling up its AI Business Transformation function and looking for a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to embed directly with business teams.
n
This is a high visibility, high agency role at the intersection of business diagnosis, workflow redesign and applied AI engineering, not a traditional back office build role.
n
You'll take raw business problems from discovery through build, evaluation, production adoption and measurable value, working alongside technology, data and compliance functions.
n
Sits within a growing AI Business Transformation team.

The role:
n
n
Translate raw business needs into clear problem statements, baselines and delivery plans, working directly with business stakeholders
n
Redesign workflows across people, AI agents and systems, including human oversight, confidence thresholds and escalation paths
n
Prototype, build, test, harden and deploy AI-enabled workflows across enterprise systems, integrating models, data, APIs and human tasks
n
Define evaluation harnesses, regression suites and observability so solutions are safe, supportable and measurable in production
n




Establish baselines and instrument metrics that prove real business value, not just AI usage or technical delivery
n

What you'll bring:
n
n
5+ years delivering technology enabled business change, with hands-on experience designing and building AI-enabled solutions
n
Practical, hands-on experience shipping AI-enabled applications, agents or intelligent workflows, including orchestration, RAG and context engineering
n
Ability to reason about model behaviour, failure modes and evaluation strategies, and make trade-offs across quality, latency, cost, reliability and risk
n
Comfortable working across Python and/or TypeScript, APIs, SQL, cloud environments and CI/CD
n
Experience with evaluation strategies, guardrails, observability and AI lifecycle management
n
