APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal to manage operations at the Port of Abbot Point- Australia's northernmost coal port- located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.

At Abbot Point Operations (APO), we are delivering an ambitious program of coatings and structural integrity works to ensure the long-term performance and efficiency of the terminal, a nationally significant export gateway on the doorstep of the Whitsundays.
n
We are seeking an experienced Project Supervisor to take ownership of on-site execution for assigned corrosion protection and structural integrity works and projects. You will be the go-to leader on the ground, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

What You will Do:
n
Lead the on-site delivery of works, ensuring all works align with APO policies, procedures, and scope.
n
Champion safety-first behaviours, drive quality standards, and maintain project efficiency.
n
Provide technical input on constructability and contribute to planning and documentation reviews.
n
Give clear direction on tasks-outlining context, purpose, and expectations for every activity.
n
Maintain accurate project records,



photos, and site diaries while supporting project reporting and communication.
n
Foster strong, respectful relationships with APO teams and external contractors.
n
What We are Looking For:
n
Demonstrated experience supervising coatings, structural integrity, and construction activities in an industrial or heavy industry workplace.
n
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, direct, and support both employees and contractors.
n
Proven commitment to safety and quality, with a track record in behavioural safety leadership.
n
Knowledge of construction documentation, QA processes, risk management, and compliance.
n
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, team-oriented approach.
