Job Description
This is a strategic role responsible for leading and strengthening child safety practices across a complex organisation, with a strong focus on compliance, organisational culture, policy, risk and stakeholder engagement.

About the Role
n
Reporting to the Manager Children, Youth & Families, you will provide leadership across the organisation's child safety function and support the continued development and implementation of a comprehensive Child Safe Framework.
n
Key responsibilities will include:
n
n
Leading the development and ongoing implementation of an organisation-wide Child Safe Framework
n
Developing and maintaining child safeguarding policies, procedures and related documentation
n
Ensuring compliance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme
n
Identifying, assessing and managing strategic, operational and reputational child safety risks
n
Implementing child safety work plans and providing strategic reporting and advice to senior leadership
n
Leading child safety training, communications and awareness initiatives
n
Supporting organisational cultural change and embedding a strong culture of child safety
n
Leading and supporting a Child Safety Project Officer
n
Coordinating child safety working groups and cross-organisational initiatives
n
Building effective relationships with government, community organisations, sector partners and other stakeholders
n
Preparing high-quality briefings, reports, recommendations and training materials
n
Providing advice on complex and sensitive child safety matters
n
n
About You
n
To be successful, you will have demonstrated experience in child safety, compliance, risk, policy, project management, community services or organisational cultural change.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
Demonstrated experience implementing and applying the Victorian Child Safe Standards
n
Strong understanding and practical experience with the Reportable Conduct Scheme
n
Experience leading organisation-wide frameworks, compliance programs, campaigns or cultural change initiatives
n
Strong policy development and implementation experience
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
n
Solid stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability
n
Experience facilitating working groups, networks and cross-functional initiatives
n
The ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion
n
Experience working within local government or a comparably complex organisation
n
n
A relevant tertiary qualification in human services, community services, compliance, risk management or a related discipline, and/or significant relevant experience is desirable.
n
A National Police Check and current Working with Children Check will be required prior to/at commencement, as applicable to the engagement.
n
