An established Australian healthcare design and construction business is entering an exciting new chapter and is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to help lead it.
n
With more than 20 years in the market and thousands of projects delivered nationally, the business has built a strong reputation for quality healthcare environments. Its focus is now evolving from traditional private practice fit-outs into larger, technically complex medical hubs and major developer partnerships.
n
This is a newly created C-suite role with genuine influence. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will bring together Design, Pre-Construction and Project Delivery, creating the structure, accountability and commercial discipline needed to scale successfully.

The Chance
n
The business has ambitious growth plans, and the COO will be central to turning those plans into reality.
n
Your mandate will be to ensure projects move seamlessly from sale through to delivery, with profitability, quality, safety and client experience protected at every stage.
n
You will:
n

Lead the Design, Pre-Construction and Delivery functions and their senior teams.
n
Establish clear operating rhythms, systems and accountability across the project lifecycle.
n
Protect gross margins and identify opportunities to eliminate commercial leakage.
n
Strengthen the transition from sales into delivery,



giving clients and the commercial team confidence in execution.
n
Elevate the organisation's approach to managing major corporate, healthcare and developer clients.
n
Drive rigorous safety, quality, programme and performance standards.
n
Build capability and accountability while preserving the business's strong people-first culture.
n
Stay close to the operation through regular site visits, project reviews and engagement with teams.
n
Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team on the broader business strategy.
n

This is a high-level leadership role with a genuine connection to the operation — approximately 80% strategic and operational leadership, balanced with regular time on site and with the teams delivering the work.

What We're Looking For
n
We are looking for a proven commercial construction leader who knows what it takes to deliver complex projects profitably and build a high-performing operation around them.
n
Your career may have progressed from Project Manager into Operations Manager, General Manager or an equivalent senior leadership position.
n
You will bring:
n

Strong commercial construction experience, ideally across complex projects and multiple delivery streams.
n
A demonstrated track record of operational leadership and financial accountability.
n
The ability to introduce structure and discipline without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
n
Strong commercial judgement and confidence working with project financials, reporting and performance data.
n
A visible, decisive leadership style and the ability to earn trust quickly.
n
The maturity to challenge established ways of working while respecting the strengths of an owner-led business.
n
A genuine appetite to build, improve and leave a lasting mark.
