Senior Manager, Legal Counsel (Property)

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Act as the senior property legal advisor to the National Development Group across all states and territories
n
Provide end‐to‐end legal support across development, planning, construction, design, portfolio and asset management
n
Lead and advise on freehold and leasehold acquisitions, agreements for lease, development agreements and complex leasing arrangements
n
Support the business on construction contracts and disputes, balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes
n
Serve as a senior escalation point on complex property matters
n
Oversee FIRB reporting and compliance obligations
n
Drive continuous improvement across legal processes, templates and governance
n
Partner closely with senior stakeholders to enable speed to market and quality decision‐making
n
Lead, coach and develop Legal Counsel within the property practice
n
Foster a collaborative, high‐performing team culture
n
Contribute to broader Legal team initiatives, knowledge sharing and best practice
n
Support the adoption of new ways of working and legal technology to improve efficiency and consistency
n

Key Qualifications
n
n
10+ years' post‐qualification experience practising property law
n
Experience from a top‐tier or mid‐tier law firm (in‐house experience highly regarded)
n
Strong experience managing complex property portfolios with multiple stakeholders
n
A pragmatic, commercially minded approach to managing risk
n
Proven ability to operate autonomously with sound judgement
n
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at senior levels
n
Demonstrated experience mentoring and coaching junior lawyers
n
Confidence thriving in a fast‐paced, high‐volume environment
n
