What's The Role:
n
Processing incoming and outgoing rail freight accurately and efficiently
n
Preparing and managing train manifests, consignment documentation and dispatch records
n
Maintaining and updating freight tracking information and shipment records
n
Coordinating the movement of rail freight to support safe and efficient operations
n
Liaising with train crews, terminal staff, warehouse teams and operational controllers
n
Responding to customer enquiries and providing updates on freight movements
n
Identifying and resolving discrepancies in freight documentation and consignment details
n
Supporting daily administrative tasks and maintaining accurate operational records
n
Ensuring compliance with rail safety requirements, transport regulations and company procedures
n
Assisting with the coordination of loading, unloading and scheduling activities to meet operational deadlines
n
What You'll Bring:
n
Excellent attention to detail with strong data entry and documentation skills
n
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operational teams
n
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
n
Confidence using computer systems and learning new technologies
n
A proactive attitude with the ability to take ownership and solve problems
n
Previous experience in rail, freight, transport, logistics or administration (highly regarded)
n
Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
n
Previous experience in rail, transport, freight, logistics or administration (preferred)
n
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends or public holidays if required
n
Experience using rail or freight management systems
n
Knowledge of rail freight operations and terminal procedures
n
Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements and rail safety principles
n
Familiarity with transport scheduling, dispatch and freight documentation processes
n
As part of the recruitment process, we'll be running Assessment Days that include a face-to-face interview and safety assessments. If successful, you'll also need to complete a pre-employment medical, including a functional capacity assessment, drug and alcohol screen, and audio review.
