Job Description
Australia's largest independent financial publisher and a world leader in financial investment research, is looking for a new Editorial Equities Analyst to join our Editorial Team.
n
Work for the Australian operation of a global leader in financial investment research and direct marketing
n
Hybrid working arrangement (four days remote, Thursday in our South Melbourne office)
n
Additional company paid holidays between Christmas & New Year
n
Direct mentorship from experienced editors and analysts
n
A flat, non-bureaucratic structure where your ideas get heard
n
A collaborative team culture (yes, including the mini table tennis table)
n
This is not a traditional analyst role. We're independent. We think differently. We value curiosity and creativity as much as financial modelling.
n
You'll be exposed to all aspects of the investment publishing process — from research and writing, to shaping current product ideas, to debating market moves with senior analysts. You'll have genuine opportunities to grow, with mentorship from analysts who've built decades-long careers here.
n
About Us...
n
We're an independent financial investment publishing company with a mission to challenge conventional thinking about investing. Our team produces market-leading research and analysis that tens of thousands of readers rely on every day.
n
This isn't your typical analyst gig at a big bank. No suits. No rigid hierarchy. No corporate bureaucracy. Just smart people doing deep work on ASX stocks, crypto, and macro trends, and bringing fresh ideas to the table.
n
Fat Tail Investment Research publishes financial ideas and advice to our readers that they are unlikely to hear anywhere else. This is because Fat Tail is fully independent. We are a member of theAgora group of companies, an independent publishing network active since ****, with affiliated businesses in the US, UK, France, Brazil, Argentina,
China, India, Spain, Germany, South Africa, Chile, Japan and more.
n
The role....
n
The Editorial Equities Analyst will work directly with two senior analysts, covering ~****** ASX-listed companies (and crypto markets), conducting research, supporting investment publications, generating and writing original ideas. The role is a hands-on, high-responsibility role for a quick learner, making immediate contributions, and helping shape editorial content across newsletters, podcasts, and digital media.
n
n
Demonstrated ability to write clearly and communicate ideas effectively
n
A strong interest and foundational knowledge in stock markets and investing
n
Analytical skills: ability to interpret data, trends, and company performance
n
Creative thinking and the confidence to bring new ideas to the table
n
Ability to learn quickly, apply feedback, and thrive in a rapid-paced environment
n
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work in a small, close-knit team
n
Strong work ethic, time management and resilience under deadlines
n
Knowledge of compliance and defamation considerations in financial publishing (training provided).
n
n
What we're looking for:
n
Mandatory:
n
n
Previous exposure to financial markets (personal investing counts)
n
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
n
Interest in both equities and broader economic/market trends
n
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively under deadlines
n
Collaborative team player
n
Tertiary qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Accounting and Economics
n
Strong demonstrable analytical skills
n
Experience with data analytical tools, including charting platforms and financial data tools.
n
Familiarity with the ASX and Australian investing landscape.
n

n
If you bring energy, ideas, writing skills, and independent thinking, we want to hear from you.
