Job Description

Join the dedicated clinical team at Cairns Private Hospital as a Full-Time Registered Nurse – Anaesthetic. As a member of our clinical team, you will plan, evaluate and deliver high-quality care to patients with the support and guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse and Shift Leaders.
n
Working within the perioperative environment, you will provide safe, patient-centred care throughout the anaesthetic journey while working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and the broader multidisciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to further develop your anaesthetic nursing expertise within a supportive and dynamic theatre environment.

About You
n
You are a dedicated Registered Nurse with recent experience in a large acute hospital environment and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. You have confident communication and interpersonal skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to work effectively in a busy perioperative environment.
n
You are passionate about providing safe, high-quality care and enjoy working collaboratively with patients, families, anaesthetists, surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality, patient-centred nursing care.
n
Provide safe and effective nursing care throughout the anaesthetic and perioperative journey.
n
Assist with the preparation and delivery of anaesthetic care within your scope of practice.
n
Monitor patients throughout anaesthesia and recognise and respond appropriately to changes in their clinical condition.
n
Prepare, check and maintain anaesthetic equipment, machines,
ventilators and associated equipment.
n
Assist with airway management and ensure appropriate emergency equipment is available and functioning.
n
Support patients receiving regional and/or epidural anaesthesia where required.
n
Assist with paediatric anaesthesia and care where appropriately trained and competent.
n
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with relevant policies and procedures.
n
Ensure anaesthetic equipment and clinical areas are appropriately prepared, stocked and maintained.
n
Work collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
n
Promote patient safety, infection prevention and high standards of clinical practice.
n
Participate in ongoing education, training and professional development.
n

You Will Also Bring
n
n
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
n
Minimum 12 months' recent experience working in a large acute hospital – essential.
n
Previous experience in anaesthetic nursing, theatre or perioperative nursing is highly regarded.
n
Experience in anaesthesia monitoring and use of anaesthetic equipment.
n
Knowledge of anaesthesia machines and anaesthetic ventilators.
n
Experience with regional and/or epidural anaesthesia is desirable.
n
Paediatric anaesthesia experience is highly regarded.
n
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
n
Exceptional customer service and a strong patient-centred approach.
n
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
n
Flexibility to work a 7-day rotating roster.
n
On-call requirements.
n
