Data Migration Engineer - SQL / Finance Systems

6 Month Contract | Melbourne or Adelaide | Australian Citizenship Required

We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to join a finance systems transformation project on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands‐on role focused on the extraction, transformation, cleansing and migration of financial data between systems.
n
The successful candidate will have strong SQL and database experience, along with a solid understanding of finance data and financial systems. Experience with Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics or Oracle Financials will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:
n
n
Design and execute data migration activities across finance systems.
n
Develop complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, validation and reconciliation.
n
Analyse and cleanse large volumes of financial data.
n
Perform source-to-target mapping and develop data transformation rules.
n
Identify and resolve data quality and migration issues.
n
Develop migration scripts and support ETL processes.
n
Validate migrated data and reconcile financial records between source and target systems.
n
Work closely with Finance, IT, Business Analysts and technical stakeholders.
n
Document migration processes, mappings, data rules and validation outcomes.
n
Support testing, cutover and post-migration activities.
n

Key Skills & Experience:
n

Proven experience in data migration or data engineering.
n
Strong hands‐on SQL and relational database experience.
n
Experience extracting, transforming and loading complex datasets.
n
Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation and validation.
n
Experience working with financial data, ERP or finance systems.
n
Understanding of financial transactions, accounts and reporting structures.
n
Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills.
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
n

Desirable Experience:
n
n
Outstanding Plains / Microsoft Dynamics GP.
n
Microsoft Dynamics / Dynamics 365.
n
Oracle Financials.
n
ETL and data migration tools.
n
ERP implementations, upgrades or system transformations.
n
Large‐scale finance data migration projects.
n
n
Essential Requirements:
n

Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
n
Strong SQL and data migration experience.
n
Experience working with finance-related data or systems.
n
Ability to work from Melbourne or Adelaide.
n
