This is an outstanding opportunity for a technically capable and community-focused engineering professional to influence transport planning, traffic management, road safety initiatives, and infrastructure development while working across a broad range of stakeholders and projects.

About the Role
n
Reporting to the Team Leader Traffic Engineering & Planning, you will provide expert advice and technical leadership to support the development of transport networks that are effective, connected, and safe for all road users. The role offers a diverse portfolio including traffic engineering assessments, transport planning initiatives, infrastructure projects, stakeholder engagement, and policy development.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Assess and recommend traffic infrastructure improvements including intersections, roads, cycleways, footpaths and associated facilities.
n
Coordinate and manage traffic matters relating to public and private events.
n
Support traffic committee processes, Council reports and implementation of endorsed traffic initiatives.
n
Manage and contribute to traffic and transport studies undertaken internally or by external consultants.
n
Provide specialist traffic engineering advice for development applications, strategic projects and transport initiatives.
n
Liaise with government agencies, transport providers, community stakeholders and infrastructure partners.
n
Prepare funding submissions and project manage transport and traffic-related capital works programs.
n
Contribute to policy development, process improvement and continuous service enhancement.

About You
n
To be successful in this position, you will bring a combination of technical expertise, stakeholder engagement skills and a genuine commitment to delivering practical community outcomes. You will ideally possess:
n
n
Tertiary qualifications in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
n
Demonstrated experience in traffic engineering, transport planning or a closely related field.
n
Strong knowledge of traffic management principles, legislation, regulations and industry standards.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
n
Proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
n
High-level project management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
n
Experience managing competing stakeholder interests and resolving complex issues.
n
A current driver's licence.
n
n
Highly Regarded
n
n
Experience with traffic and transport modelling software.
n
Proficiency with engineering and project management applications such as MS Project and MS Access.
n
Road safety or traffic management accreditations.
n
n
