Job Description
Utilities Project Manager – Civil Construction

Sydney, NSW
n
Our client is an established civil infrastructure contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across NSW. With continued growth within their utilities division, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of a range of civil and utilities projects. This is a hands‐on project leadership position suited to someone who is commercially astute, technically capable and confident managing projects, people and clients from mobilisation through to completion.

The Opportunity
n
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall performance of your projects, with a focus on safety, program, quality, commercial outcomes and client satisfaction.
n
You will work closely with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and external stakeholders, providing direction across the project lifecycle and ensuring works are delivered efficiently and to specification.
n
The successful candidate will have a solid background in utilities and civil infrastructure, with the ability to manage multiple work fronts and make sound decisions in a fast‐moving construction environment.

Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Taking overall responsibility for the delivery and performance of assigned projects.
n
Establishing project plans, construction programs, budgets and financial forecasts.
n
Coordinating engineering, site and construction teams to achieve project milestones.
n
Monitoring project costs, variations, claims and overall commercial performance.
n
Planning and coordinating the supply of labour, materials, plant and equipment.
n
Engaging with and managing subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
n
Maintaining regular communication with clients, consultants, authorities and other project stakeholders.
n
Identifying potential project issues and implementing practical solutions before they impact delivery.
n
Ensuring all works meet required safety, environmental and quality standards.
n
Providing accurate project reporting, cost‐to‐complete forecasts and progress updates.
n
Supporting the pre‐construction and tendering process for future projects.
n
Representing the organisation at project and client meetings.
n
Providing leadership and guidance to engineers and other members of the project team.
n

What We're Looking For
n
We're interested in speaking with Project Managers who have a proven track record in civil construction and utilities infrastructure.
n
Your experience is likely to include several of the following:
n
n
Water and sewer infrastructure.
n
Stormwater drainage, pipelines and culverts.
n
Utility relocation projects.
n
FRP works within a civil construction workplace.
n
Working with NSW utility authorities and associated standards and requirements.
n
n
Beyond your technical experience, you'll need strong commercial awareness and the confidence to manage clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
n
You'll be someone who can take ownership, communicate effectively and remain solutions-focused when projects become challenging.
n
Qualifications & Requirements:
n
n
A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
n
Demonstrated experience working for Sydney Water accredited subcontractor (Tier 2/3)
n
Current Australian Driver Licence.
n
White Card.
n
n
Advantageous:
n
n
Sydney Water experience, training or relevant accreditations.
n
Sydney Water Key Personnel experience.
n
Working Near Live Utilities accreditation.
n
Confined Space accreditation.
n
First Aid certification.
n
Formal project management qualifications.
n
