We are seeking an experienced Boilermaker to join our growing business in a full-time role based in Coburg. This is a hands‐on position involving the installation, assembly, modification and welding of structural steel across a variety of commercial and residential construction projects.
n
You will work alongside experienced supervisors, crane crews and other trades as part of a collaborative site team, playing a key role in delivering quality projects safely and efficiently.
n
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, enjoys working on‐site, and wants to be part of a reliable and professional steel installation company.
n
Australian citizenship is required for this position.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
1. Install and erect structural steel including columns, beams, lintels, portal frames, stairs, platforms, bracing, ties & purlins to project specifications. Lead small crews onsite while remaining hands‐on with fabrication and welding tasks.
n
2. Accurately read and interpret structural, shop and technical drawings to plan and execute installations
n
3. Perform on‐site welding, bolting, grinding, fit‐up work, and steel assembly safely and with precision
n
4. Assist with crane lifts, dogging, rigging operations, and other complex site tasks
n
5. Carry out welding modifications, troubleshooting, site measure and boilermaker works efficiently on site
n
6. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and site machinery, maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols
n
7. Work confidently at heights using EWPs, scaffolding, or harness systems
n
8. Coordinate closely with fabrication and production teams to ensure timely delivery and smooth installation of steel components
n
9. Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and site housekeeping
n
10. Hold a current White Card and consistently follow all site safety procedures
n
11. Provide constructive feedback to continuously improve installation processes and site efficiency
n
12. Provide regular feedback to management on installation progress, site issues and outcomes
n
What we're looking for
n
1. Trade-qualified Boilermaker, Fabricator, or equivalent hands‐on experience in steel fabrication, carpentry, or construction (essential)
n
2. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in structural steel installation is required
n
3. Proven track record in on‐site structural steel installation and assembly
n
4. Competent in stick welding with solid on‐site experience
n
5. Skilled in reading and interpreting construction, structural shop drawings to plan and execute installations accurately
n
6. Strong problem‐solving and critical thinking skills, with a focus on delivering high‐quality, precise workmanship
n
7. Deep understanding of site safety procedures and a commitment to safe work practices at all times
n
8. Comfortable working at heights and physically capable of handling demanding site work using EWPs, scaffolding, harnesses, and other relevant equipment
n
9. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to coordinate effectively with supervisors, crane crews, trades, and other stakeholders
n
10. Current White Card is mandatory (Construction Induction), Working at Heights, EWP, Dogging, or Rigging is highly regarded.
