We work in partnership with general practitioners, allied health professionals and local service providers to deliver physical and mental health programs, as well as an award-winning outreach dental service. About the role

/n

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Adult Mental Health Worker to join our Mental Health Team.

/n

The successful candidate will provide therapeutic support to adults living in rural and remote communities, delivering evidence-based mental health interventions within a community-based, mild-to-moderate service model.

/n

This position is full-time (part-time may be considered) and reports directly to the Team Leader – Mental Health. The role covers the Dorset and Break O'Day municipalities and is offered on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027.

/n

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver person-centred mental health care, promote recovery and wellbeing, and support clients to build resilience, strengthen coping strategies and access appropriate services within their local communities.

/n

Applicants from a range of mental health backgrounds are encouraged to apply, including counsellors, social workers, psychologists, mental health clinicians and other suitably experienced practitioners.

Key Responsibilities

/n

/n

- Provide evidence-based mental health interventions and supports to people aged 18 years and over.

/n

- Deliver therapeutic interventions to individuals, families, support persons and groups where appropriate.

/n

- Provide care coordination, brief case support and transfer-of-care services when required.

/n

- Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.

/n

- Maintain a contemporary understanding of mental health presentations, recovery-oriented practice and trauma-informed care.

/n

- Continuously develop professional practice through reflection, supervision, training and ongoing learning.

/n





- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support community wellbeing, mental health promotion and local service capacity.

/n

- Develop and maintain effective relationships with community organisations, health professionals and other key stakeholders.

/n

- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organisational requirements.

/n

- Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.

/n

- Operate in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards, the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, and the National Standards for Mental Health Services.

/n

- Make sound clinical decisions within scope of practice and seek support when required.

/n/n

Travel Requirements

/n

This position requires regular travel throughout the Dorset and Break O'Day municipalities, including outreach to rural and remote communities.

- Experience providing evidence-based mental health support services within a clinical or community setting.

/n

- Experience delivering services either face-to-face and/or via telehealth.

/n

- Ability to effectively manage a caseload and prioritise competing demands.

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

/n

- Ability to engage, liaise and collaborate with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated understanding of recovery-oriented practice and trauma-informed care.

- Proven ability to work both autonomously and within a team setting.

- Current Driver Licence.

/n

- Working with Vulnerable People Registration.

/n

- Current National Police Check.

/n

- Valid working rights within Australia.

/n

- Relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, counselling, or a related discipline.

/n

- Current registration or membership with one of the following qualified bodies:/n

- Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

/n

- Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

/n

- Australian Counselling Association (ACA) – Level 3 or 4 preferred

/n

- Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) – Clinical Registration preferred

Applicants without a tertiary qualification may still be considered where they can demonstrate substantial relevant experience (minimum five years) in mental health service delivery and can provide relevant professional referees.
