Company Overview
Our client is a well-established multinational business operating across Australia and New Zealand. With a strong market presence, complex operations, and a fast-paced environment, the organisation offers finance professionals the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to key commercial decisions.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this Financial Accountant position takes ownership of the end-to-end accounting function for the New Zealand business unit. This is not a stepping-stone role for an Assistant Accountant. Instead, it will suit a technically strong accountant who thrives in a high-volume environment, can work confidently with large datasets, and enjoys partnering with stakeholders to explain financial outcomes and drive informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

- Manage the end-to-end accounting and month-end close process for the New Zealand entity.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, management reports, and financial analysis.
- Complete BAS/GST and other compliance obligations for Recent Zealand.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Present property budgets and financial insights to senior stakeholders and directors.
- Analyse large volumes of financial data to identify trends, variances, and business risks.
- Partner with operational leaders to provide meaningful commercial insights.
- Support audit requirements, statutory reporting, and compliance activities.
- Drive process improvements and enhance financial controls across the business.

- Contribute to ad hoc projects and broader finance initiatives.

The Candidate
- CA/CPA qualified or nearing completion.
- Minimum 4+ years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end accounting responsibilities.
- Strong technical accounting, reporting, and compliance knowledge.
- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, and presenting financial information to senior stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret large datasets.
- Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Confident communicator who can explain the "why" behind the numbers.
- Experience within a medium to large-scale organisation.
- Exposure to retail, consumer-facing, or other fast-paced environments will be highly regarded.
- Not suited to candidates seeking their first Financial Accountant opportunity from an Assistant Accountant background.

Benefits
- Broad role ownership with end-to-end responsibility for an entire business unit.
- Significant stakeholder exposure, including presenting budgets and financial insights to senior leaders and directors.
- Opportunity to develop strong commercial acumen while working in a fast-paced, data-rich environment.
- $85,000 - $95,000 Plus Superannuation
- 1 day work from home
- Staff discounts | Wellness partnerships and memberships
