Western District Health Service is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Leisure & Lifestyle Assistant to join our Residential Aged Care team.
This rewarding role supports residents to live fulfilling and meaningful lives through engaging leisure, lifestyle and recreation programs. Working closely with residents, families and the multidisciplinary team, you will help create opportunities for social connection, independence, enjoyment and wellbeing in a person-centred aged care environment. The role is guided by Montessori principles, supporting residents to maintain choice, purpose and dignity in their daily lives.
This role primarily involves weekend work, with 4-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays. There may also be opportunities to pick up additional shifts during the week to provide planned and unplanned leave coverage.
What You'll Be Doing
Lifestyle & Recreation Programs
Facilitate and deliver engaging individual and group activities that support residents' physical, emotional, social, cognitive and spiritual wellbeing.
Resident-Centred Care
Work closely with residents to understand their interests, abilities and goals, assisting in the development of personalised lifestyle programs that promote independence and quality of life.
Community Connection
Encourage participation in community-based activities and develop positive relationships with community groups and organisations to enhance resident engagement and inclusion.
Program Coordination & Administration
Maintain activity calendars, assessments, care plans, evaluations and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and aged care standards.
Collaboration & Support
Work collaboratively with residents, families, volunteers and multidisciplinary team members to deliver meaningful programs and experiences.
Assist with the support and orientation of volunteers and students involved in lifestyle programs.
Quality & Safety
Contribute to continuous improvement activities, accreditation requirements and risk management processes while ensuring residents participate in a safe and supportive environment.
What You Bring
- Certificate III in Community Services, Leisure and Lifestyle or similar qualification (desirable)
- Completion of Year 12
- Passion for supporting older people to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families and colleagues
- Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
- Experience coordinating or facilitating recreational, lifestyle or community activities (desirable)
- Sound computer and administrative skills
- Commitment to person-centred care and resident wellbeing
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Montessori principles in aged care
- Current Driver's Licence
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Rights to work in Australia
