Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT is a long-established not-for-profit organisation supporting children, young people, families and communities across regional NSW and the ACT.

For more than 90 years, Anglicare has worked alongside people experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage. Today, the organisation delivers a broad range of services spanning Foster Care, Youth and Family Services, Disability Support, Housing and Crisis Support, Early Learning, Financial Wellbeing, Workforce Development and community-based programs.

Across its services, Anglicare is focused on creating positive long-term outcomes for the people and communities it supports, with the safety, dignity and wellbeing of children and young people central to its approach.

The opportunity
Anglicare is seeking to appoint an Executive Director and Principal Officer, Permanency Support Program to lead Foster and Kinship Care, Intensive Therapeutic Care and related permanency services.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this is a senior executive appointment with broad accountability for the performance, quality and sustainability of one of Anglicare’s most important service portfolios. The Executive Director will provide leadership across operations, workforce, financial performance, safeguarding, practice quality, governance and regulatory assurance.

As Principal Officer, the Executive Director will hold statutory and organisational accountability for Anglicare’s arrangements for providing out-of-home care services, with a central role in ensuring children and young people receive safe, high-quality, trauma-informed and child-centred support.

Working closely with the CEO and Executive Team, the Executive Director will continue to build on reforms already underway across governance, practice, compliance, quality assurance and service delivery. The role will also maintain trusted relationships with the Department of Communities and Justice, the Office of the Children’s Guardian and broader sector stakeholders, while positioning Anglicare strongly for future commissioning, tender and contract renewal opportunities.

This is an opportunity to influence the future direction of a significant child and family services portfolio, strengthen the systems and leadership that support quality care, and contribute to better outcomes for children, young people, carers and families.

About you
You are a highly credible and accomplished executive with significant leadership experience across child, youth and family services and a strong understanding of the complexity and accountability associated with services for vulnerable children and young people.

You bring deep knowledge of the child protection and out-of-home care environment, ideally across permanency support, foster and kinship care, residential or therapeutic care. You understand contemporary safeguarding and practice expectations, statutory accountability and the regulatory and commissioning setting in which these services operate.

Alongside your sector expertise, you bring strong executive capability across operations, workforce, financial management, governance and organisational performance. You have led complex and geographically dispersed services, developed capable senior leaders and are comfortable making considered decisions in environments characterised by scrutiny, competing priorities and significant risk.

You will also be a credible and influential stakeholder leader,

with the ability to develop constructive relationships with government, regulators and sector partners, including the Department of Communities and Justice and the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

Above all, you will bring the judgement, resilience and values alignment required to lead an important portfolio and improve outcomes for children, young people, carers and families.
