Staff Specialist Ophthalmologist

The position offers a broad scope of ophthalmology practice, providing specialist assessment, treatment and ongoing management across outpatient and procedural settings. You will work within a collaborative multidisciplinary setting, supporting the delivery and continued development of ophthalmology services for the wider regional community.

Key aspects of the role include:

- Assessment and management of a broad range of general ophthalmology presentations
- Delivery of outpatient specialist clinics
- Surgical and procedural ophthalmology within your scope of practice
- Management of acute and chronic ophthalmic conditions
- Collaboration with Emergency Medicine, General Medicine and other specialist services
- Contribution to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development
- Teaching, supervision and mentoring of junior medical staff where appropriate

The client is based in a beautiful coastal area, only an hour’s flight to both Melbourne and Adelaide from their local airport. You will have the best of both worlds in this region with beautiful parks and gardens and easy access to beaches.

The Facility
This state-of-the-art public hospital offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and psychiatric services and is the major specialist referral centre for the region, comprising of almost 300 beds and serving a catchment in excess of 110,000.

The Requirements
The preferred applicant will hold a recognised Ophthalmology Fellowship and be eligible for AHPRA Specialist Registration.

- The service may also be able to consider an appropriately assessed SIMG requiring a period of supervised practice or specialist peer review.
