Chiller Commissioning Technicians | HVAC & Refrigeration
Sydney & Melbourne | Permanent Full Time
Strong in HVAC, refrigeration or chillers and ready to make commissioning the main focus of your role?
You don't need to already be a dedicated Commissioning Technician.
If you're an experienced Service Technician who enjoys fault finding, controls, start ups and solving technical problems, this could be a natural next step.
You'll move away from predominantly reactive maintenance and spend more of your time bringing brand recent industrial chiller systems to life across major Data Centre and Critical Infrastructure projects.
No Data Centre experience? No dramas. Strong HVAC, refrigeration or chiller experience is enough to have a conversation.
What's On Offer
- Move Into Specialist Commissioning - Take the technical skills you've built in service and apply them to start ups, testing, controls, optimisation and handover.
- Work on New Equipment - Spend more time commissioning newly installed chillers rather than predominantly maintaining ageing plant.
- Major Data Centre Projects - Get exposure to large scale Critical Infrastructure and build experience in one of Australia's fastest growing infrastructure markets.
- Become a Product Specialist - Receive structured training across industrial chiller technology, controls and commissioning processes. You aren't expected to know every product before you start.
- Strong Earning Potential - Plenty of overtime is available if you want it, alongside on call and additional allowances.
- Set Up Properly for the Job - A fully maintained company vehicle is provided, including fuel, quality tools, uniforms and digital service equipment.
- Build a Long Term Technical Career - Keep developing your technical capability across chillers and critical cooling,
with pathways into Senior Commissioning and Technical Specialist roles if you come in and do well.
What You'll Be Doing
- Commission large industrial chiller systems from start up through functional testing, controls integration, fault finding, optimisation and customer handover.
- Work across mechanical and electrical systems, chiller controls, BMS integration and associated cooling plant, completing L2, L3 and L4 commissioning alongside experienced project and commissioning teams.
- Diagnose site issues, prove equipment operation and work with customers, Project Managers and technical teams to get systems operating as designed.
What Will Make You Successful
- Mechanical or refrigeration trade background with strong HVAC service, chiller or commissioning experience, plus solid fault finding capability.
- Experience across several areas such as chillers, chilled water, controls, BMS, refrigeration systems, pumps, compressors, start ups or functional testing.
- Refrigerant Handling Licence and Driver Licence. A Restricted Electrical Licence is preferred, but if you have the right technical background and are willing to obtain additional tickets, we'd still like to hear from you.
Why Apply?
If you're good at service but want to go deeper technically, commissioning gives you that next step.
You'll use the fault finding and controls knowledge you already have, then build deeper expertise across new industrial chillers and mission critical cooling systems.
You don't need to come from Data Centres or know every product already.
Bring the technical foundation and the willingness to learn. The specialist knowledge can be developed.
We'd love to hear from you. Apply now and we look forward to speaking with you.
We're hiring multiple roles too. If you know good techs you'd happily work with again, share this with them.
