Due to an internal promotion, St Rita’s College is seeking an inspiring and innovative Teacher Librarian to join our College community in 2027 and contribute to an engaging, contemporary library and learning environment.

This is an opportunity for an experienced educator and information professional to play a key role in supporting student learning, literacy, research and a love of reading across the College. Working collaboratively with teachers, the Teacher Librarian will help students develop the skills, confidence and curiosity to become independent, critical and ethical users of information.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Teacher Librarian will provide high-quality teaching and learning support through the development and delivery of library and information literacy programs, while overseeing a welcoming and engaging library environment. This position also includes a reduced teaching load.

Key responsibilities include:

- Develop and deliver engaging library, literacy, research and information literacy programs appropriate to students' developmental needs.

- Support students to develop effective research, critical thinking, digital literacy and information evaluation skills.

- Promote a strong culture of reading and foster students' enjoyment of literature and independent reading.

- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources, information literacy and inquiry learning into curriculum programs.

- Curate, develop and manage a contemporary library collection that reflects curriculum requirements, student interests and diverse perspectives.

- Provide guidance to students and staff in accessing and effectively using print,



digital and online information resources.

ABOUT YOU
You will bring:

- A recognised postgraduate qualification in Teacher Librarianship, Library and Information Science, or an equivalent discipline relevant to school library services.

- Experience developing and delivering engaging learning programs in a school environment.

- Strong knowledge of contemporary library practices, information literacy, research skills and digital technologies.

- A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and contribute to curriculum planning and delivery.

- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.

- A genuine commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of St Rita's College.
