- Full-Time Maximum Term position to 30 September 2029, based at our Little Collins Street (HQ) office

About the role:

If successful, you will provide senior technical and advisory leadership across AMES Australia's AI governance, security strategy, and responsible AI enablement capability. The role is responsible for designing, enhancing, and overseeing security controls and governance frameworks for AI systems, platforms, and integrations, while leading AI-specific risk, compliance, and assurance activities. The role bridges emerging AI adoption and sound security practice ensuring AMES Australia can embrace AI confidently while maintaining accountability, visibility, and protection over its data and systems.

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:

- Degree in Information Technology,



Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security or a related discipline AND 5 years’ experience in IT, Security or AI Governance roles, including senior or lead responsibilities. Demonstrated experience with ISO 27001, ISM, Essential Eight, and cloud security Good understanding of regulatory requirements around AI and ISO 42001
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, endpoint security technologies, and AI platform security considerations.
- Understanding of SIEM concepts, vulnerability management, incident response, and AI-related threat patterns and data risk.
- Proficiency in AI governance concepts, including acceptable use, shadow AI risk, data handling obligations, and regulatory alignment (e.g. ISM, ISO, Privacy Act).
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, including the ability to translate AI and security risks into clear, accessible guidance for non-technical audiences.
- Good understanding of Microsoft 365, including Teams, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Copilot governance and data protection capabilities.
- Broad knowledge of IT security practices, designs, methodologies, tools, and processes, including emerging AI related security controls.
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good time management skills with demonstrated ability to support change initiatives and evolving regulatory requirements.




- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, quality assurance, and customer service principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences and diverse groups.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, particularly in the rapidly evolving areas of AI governance, cyber security, and technology risk.
