Trade Assistant
Position Purpose
The Trade Assistant supports infrastructure rehabilitation projects by assisting tradespeople and machinery operators with pipeline relining, concreting, manhole works and confined space activities. The role is vital in ensuring efficient pipeline maintenance operations, adherence to safety procedures, and the safe handling of specialised equipment and materials.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with pipeline rehabilitation works, including CIPP relining and reinstatement tasks.
- Assist with concreting works, including preparation, placement, finishing and general concrete-related labouring.
- Assist with manhole construction, repairs, rehabilitation and reinstatement works.
- Support the operation of robotic cutting equipment for pipe junction re-openings.
- Perform high-pressure cleaning and surface preparation of pipes, tanks, manholes and related assets.
- Set up, operate and pack down site equipment such as hoses, winches, cutters and vacuum units.
- Work in confined spaces following all safety procedures and permit requirements.
- Conduct general civil and construction labouring duties, including manual handling, site housekeeping and material organisation.
- Assist tradespeople with maintenance, infrastructure works and equipment servicing.
- Comply with all WHS policies, permits and company procedures consistently.
- Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in a clean and functional condition.
- Be prepared to undertake national travel and work away from home when required.
- Attend safety briefings, training and participate in ongoing skill development.

Key Skills & Experience

- Previous experience in concreting, manhole works, civil construction, infrastructure, pipeline rehabilitation or confined space projects is highly desirable.
- Ability to work safely in confined spaces,



good manual handling skills and physical fitness for general labouring and construction tasks.
- Capable of working flexible hours, including early starts.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to WHS standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance is advantageous.
- Valid tickets or licences such as confined space, gas testing and working at heights are advantageous, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
