About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant the that will support a broad range of accounting and administrative functions, helping to ensure the efficient and accurate operation of the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate month-end journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with maintaining the fixed asset register.
- Prepare the weekly cash flow report.
- Provide support across accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Review weekly employee timesheets and assist with payroll.
- Coordinate the monthly stocktake and finalise stock figures.
- Manage the shared accounts inbox.
- Work collaboratively to meet team deadlines.
- Manage employee expense claims and corporate credit cards in accordance with company policy.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and internal controls.
- Complete ad hoc reporting and respond to finance-related queries.
Skills and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
- Three to five years of relevant accounting experience in a similar role.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to learn internal systems quickly.
- A sound understanding of debits and credits, general ledger coding and core accounting principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and effective time-management skills.
