We are seeking a Family Law Solicitor who has held an unrestricted practising certificate for 2–5 years to join our growing team on the Sunshine Coast.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate family lawyer who has established a solid foundation in family law and is ready to continue developing their skills, confidence and independence within a collaborative, and values-driven firm.
You will work alongside experienced and award-winning practitioners, managing your own file load while continuing to develop your skills and expertise. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with senior solicitors on more complex parenting and property matters, gaining valuable exposure and building your confidence and capability as a family lawyer.
This is a Sunshine Coast-based position.

About the Role
In this role, you will manage your own family law matters appropriate to your level of experience, with access to experienced practitioners for guidance and support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of family law matters from commencement through to resolution, with appropriate support where required.
- Advising clients on parenting, property, domestic violence, and other family law matters within your level of experience.
- Conducting client appointments and maintaining strong,
professional client relationships.
- Preparing correspondence, affidavits, applications, submissions and other legal documents.
- Conducting legal research and applying family law principles to individual matters.
- Negotiating with other practitioners and participating in mediations and dispute resolution.
- Preparing matters for court and appearing in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia of Australia and the Magistrates Court of Queensland as appropriate to your experience.
- Managing key dates, deadlines, file requirements and client expectations.
- Working closely with legal secretaries to ensure matters are progressed efficiently.
- Seeking guidance when appropriate while developing increasing autonomy and responsibility for your matters.
- Contributing to a positive team culture and continuous improvement within the firm.
This role is designed for someone who is past the junior stage of their legal career but still values support, collaboration and continued development. You will have the opportunity to build your technical expertise and confidence while gradually taking on more complex matters.
About You
- You will thrive in this role if you have:
- 2–5 years’ experience practising with an unrestricted practising certificate.
- Predominantly family law experience.
- A sound understanding of family law and court processes.
- Experience managing your own family law matters.
- The ability to provide clear, practical and client-focused legal advice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Good judgement and an understanding of when to seek guidance from more experienced practitioners.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- The confidence to take ownership of your matters while recognising when collaboration or assistance is required.
- High emotional intelligence, with compassion, professionalism and sound judgement when working with clients experiencing significant life challenges.
- A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to contribute to a positive team culture.
- A commitment to continuing to develop your technical and professional skills.
Essential
- Current Australian unrestricted practising certificate.
- Demonstrated experience practising predominantly in Family Law.
