About the role

OnSite Recruitment is seeking a Dispatch Officer on a casual basis to join our Clients team in Port Melbourne. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our warehousing and distribution centre, where you will be responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of goods and ensuring accurate, timely dispatch of orders to customers. As a Dispatch Officer, you will play a critical part in maintaining our high service standards and supporting the logistics operations that form the backbone of our business.

Key responsibilities

1. Coordinating the dispatch of goods from the warehouse facility, ensuring orders are accurately picked, packed and labelled according to specifications

2. Managing dispatch schedules and coordinating with transport providers to ensure timely collection and delivery of shipments

3. Maintaining accurate records of all dispatched items, including documentation and tracking information

4. Quality checking outbound shipments to verify completeness, condition and accuracy before dispatch

5. Liaising with warehouse team members to prioritise and organise goods for dispatch

6. Monitoring stock levels and communicating any discrepancies or shortfalls to relevant team members

7. Operating warehouse management systems and dispatch software to track shipments and update customer information

8. Responding to customer enquiries regarding dispatch status and delivery timeframes

Supporting the overall efficient operation of the distribution centre through versatile task allocation as required

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience in a dispatch, warehouse or logistics environment

2. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively

3. Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and documentation

4. Proficiency with warehouse management systems and basic computer literacy

5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with team members and external contacts

6. Physical capability to perform warehouse duties, including lifting and moving items as required

7. Strong Experience and Knowledge with WMS Systems

8. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining health and safety standards

9. Previous experience with transport coordination or customer service in a logistics setting is advantageous
