Roofing Supervisor
$100,000 - $120,000 Salary | Company Vehicle | Brisbane Region
We are looking for an experienced Roofing Supervisor who understands roofing technically, not just operationally.
This role combines site supervision with quality auditing, roof measuring, material take-offs, rectification management and project coordination across multiple residential roofing projects throughout the Brisbane region.
You will be trusted to inspect work, identify defects, confirm scopes, accurately measure upcoming projects, determine material requirements and manage rectification works through to completion.
You will also coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials and site requirements to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
If you also come from a trade carpentry background, that will be highly regarded. Many of our roofing projects involve existing homes where structural repairs, framing, cladding and other remedial building works need to be understood and resolved.
The role
This is a field-based supervisory and technical role with responsibility across both upcoming and active roofing projects.
A significant part of your role will involve:
- Completing detailed quality audits and roofing inspections
- Identifying workmanship defects, incomplete works and compliance issues
- Documenting audit findings with clear photographs, measurements and site notes
- Working with crews and subcontractors to implement corrective actions
- Completing accurate roof measures for upcoming projects
- Reviewing scopes and confirming actual site requirements before works commence
- Preparing accurate material take-offs and quantities
- Confirming roofing, flashing, guttering and associated material requirements
- Reconciling material requirements against project scope and site conditions
- Identifying potential scope gaps before work starts
- Assessing and coordinating rectification works
- Investigating reported defects and determining the practical cause and required repair
- Scoping rectification works and coordinating the appropriate crew, subcontractor or supporting trade
- Monitoring rectification works through to completion and confirming the required outcome has been achieved
- Supervising roofing crews and subcontractors across multiple active projects
- Conducting regular site inspections to monitor safety, progress and workmanship
- Coordinating materials, equipment, suppliers and supporting trades
- Reviewing site readiness before roofing works commence
- Resolving technical questions, site constraints and scope clarifications
- Reinforcing SWMS requirements and safe work practices
- Providing clear progress updates regarding risks, delays, variations and corrective actions
- Maintaining accurate site records, photographs, measurements and compliance documentation
- Supporting Leading Hands, apprentices and subcontractors to maintain expected workmanship standards
This is not a desk-based project management position. You will spend a significant amount of time across active sites and will need the practical knowledge and confidence to make sound decisions in the field.
Quality audits
Quality assurance is a major part of this position.
You will be expected to inspect roofing works critically and identify issues before they become client complaints or significant rectification matters.
That means being able to assess workmanship, installation details, flashings, penetrations, roof interfaces and the overall completed roofing system, document what you find and clearly communicate what needs to be corrected.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in getting the work right, not simply getting the job closed.
Roof measures & material take-offs
You will regularly attend properties before works commence to verify the roof and confirm what is actually required.
You need to be confident completing accurate roof measurements and translating those measurements into practical material requirements.
Strong attention to detail is important. An inaccurate measure or material take-off can affect scheduling, project cost and the ability of a crew to complete the job efficiently.
Rectification management
You will also play an important role in managing roofing rectifications.
This includes attending sites, assessing reported issues, determining what work is required, documenting findings, coordinating the appropriate resources and ensuring rectification works are properly completed.
We need someone who can approach these jobs objectively, distinguish between the reported issue and the actual cause, and develop a practical solution rather than simply sending a crew back to site without direction.
About you
You may currently be a Roofing Supervisor, Roofing Leading Hand, Roofing Foreman or highly experienced roofer ready to move into a broader supervisory role.
What matters is that you have strong practical roofing knowledge and can operate confidently across quality, measuring, supervision and rectification work.
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience in metal roofing and associated roofing systems
- Experience supervising roofing crews or subcontractors
- Demonstrated ability to complete roof measures
- Experience preparing or checking material take-offs
- Strong understanding of roofing workmanship and quality requirements
- Experience conducting quality inspections or audits
- The ability to identify defects and determine appropriate corrective action
- Experience investigating or managing roofing rectifications
- Strong understanding of site safety and SWMS requirements
- The ability to read scopes, plans and project documentation
- Confidence dealing with technical roofing issues and unusual site conditions
- Good organisational skills across multiple concurrent projects
- Clear communication with tradespeople, Project Managers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Sound judgement and the confidence to make practical decisions in the field
- Good documentation skills, including photographs, measurements and written site notes
Carpentry experience is highly regarded
A carpentry qualification is not essential, however a trade-qualified carpenter with strong roofing experience would be particularly well suited to this position.
Our projects regularly involve existing homes where roofing works intersect with:
- Structural timber repairs
- Framing modifications and upgrades
- Fascia and associated timber work
- Weatherboards and cladding
- Remedial building works
- Make-safes and structural rectifications
Being able to recognise, scope or complete these works would add significant value to the role.
What we offer
- $100,000 - $120,000 salary, depending on experience
- Company vehicle provided
- Full-time permanent position
- Diverse field-based role across the Brisbane region
- Genuine autonomy to manage site and technical issues
- Direct support from our Business and Operations team
- A strong pipeline of roofing projects
- A role where practical experience and technical knowledge are valued
- Opportunity to influence workmanship standards and develop our roofing crews
- Long-term opportunity within a growing trade business
