Accounts Payable and Purchasing Officer
St Mark’s College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Accounts Payable and Purchasing Officer to work at our College Administration Office.

The position is 46 weeks a year, 37.5 hours per week working Monday to Friday 8.00am – 4.30pm with up to a 1-hour lunch break.
The appointment will be permanent from 13 September 2026 as training days will be required prior to the commencement of Term 4. You will be required to work in term breaks, however 2 of your weeks will be classed as flexible working weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare routine journal entries for posting to the ledger and undertake the routine closing of monthly accounts.
- Plan, set-up and use spreadsheets and databases and produce standard financial statements using an established accounting system and regularly review to ensuring ongoing accuracy.
- Prepare and dispatch payments to creditors with routine follow up on unpaid accounts.
- Perform purchasing function including determining quality and quantities required; obtaining quotes and negotiating with suppliers; analysing quotes and catalogues; and raising orders and arranging authorisations.
- Under the guidance of the Principal (or delegate), analyse financial information, follow up on outstanding balances and attend to financial enquiries from families regarding school fees, charges and payment term options.
About You
- Demonstrated broad knowledge and experience, including theoretical concepts, of general financial and payroll systems and practices to ensure compliance.
- High level of proficiency in using a computer and applicable programs, particularly Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook), databases, finance and payroll systems, and other office equipment to fulfil the requirements of the role.
- Ability to work with little direct supervision, undertaking enquiries to clarify technical requirements, and utilising discretion and applying judgement to a range of finance and payroll-related problems.
- Effective and positive communication and a high level of interpersonal skills to engage with and deliver a responsive professional finance service to the school community and other stakeholders.
- Ability to take responsibility for own outcomes and demonstrate significant initiative and responsibility to successfully provide a professional finance service.
- High level time management and organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks and meet required timelines.
