Our Minor Works Division focuses on projects in the $250K – $2M range, and we're now hiring a dedicated Estimator — a key hire for this division. We're looking for someone ready to make this role their own, take ownership of the estimating function, and play a genuine part in shaping the success of the Minor Works team.

A minimum of 3-5 years of estimating experience is required for this position.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Minor Works, you'll manage a pipeline of 4–8 live tenders at any time across government, education, aged care, and commercial sectors. This is a hands-on estimating role — you own the pricing from scope review through to submission, with strong support around you including a Bid Coordinator, dedicated program and methodology resources, and the backing of RCG's full estimating team.

Day to day you'll be:

- Liaising directly with clients on tender queries, RFIs, and site inspections — you're comfortable picking up the phone and representing RCG

- Reading and interpreting scope documents, drawings, and specifications

- Conducting and attending site inspections

- Issuing and managing RFQs to subcontractors and suppliers

- Building competitive, well-covered estimates using CostX (or similar)





- Proficiency across multiple estimating software platforms is required for accurate project pricing.

- Preparing pricing schedules and quote submissions for smaller jobs

- Working with the Bid Coordinator on full tender submissions — cover letters, capability statements, and compliant document formatting

- Drawing on program and methodology resources where submissions require a construction program or methodology statement

- Maintaining the tender register and pipeline reporting

- Coordinating with the delivery team post-award on pricing assumptions and handover

What We're Looking For

- 3–6 years estimating experience in commercial construction

- Proven experience pricing in the $250K–$2M range

- A natural relationship builder — you're on the phone, you know your subbies, and they pick up when you call

- Confident communicating with clients — whether it's a site inspection, an RFI, or a relationship call, you represent RCG professionally

- Strong subcontractor and supplier network

- Experience in government, education, or aged care sectors highly regarded

- Proficient in CostX (or similar)

- High attention to detail — you check your numbers before they go out the door

- Solid written communication — your submissions read well, not just price well
