Chef 2IC
Competitive Salary + Salary Packaging + Super
Full Time Role
Merriwa, WA
At RAAFA, we are proud of our heritage, the services we deliver and, most importantly, our people.
Our values shape who we are, how we work together and the care we provide. This is the RAAFA way: a supportive culture where our people make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we care for every day.
We create welcoming communities that are open to all. Through our Seniors Living services, we offer a connected continuum of care across seven active retirement living estates, RAAFA Connect support services and five warm, welcoming residential aged care homes.
If you are an experienced chef looking for more balance, a stable full time role and the chance to step into a genuine leadership position, this could be the opportunity for you. We are looking for a motivated Chef 2IC to support the Head Chef and help lead our friendly kitchen team at the RAAFA Club in Merriwa. The Club is the heartbeat of the estate, offering contemporary function rooms, meeting spaces and a relaxed dining experience for members and guests. You will have the opportunity to take ownership, support a positive team culture and build your career with an established not-for-profit organisation that values its people.
Why this role is worth considering:
- Better balance and stability – enjoy a full-time role with a set roster, no late nights and the consistency to plan life outside of work.
- More value from your pay – access competitive pay, super and generous salary packaging of up to $15,899 plus $2,650 in entertainment benefits each year.
- Variety in your day – support Club dining, functions and onsite services in a well-equipped commercial kitchen at the heart of the estate.
- Everyday employee benefits – enjoy free onsite parking, discounted health insurance and gym membership, access to our Employee Assistance Program and free Perth Zoo entry through our corporate membership.
- Career growth and referral rewards – access ongoing learning and development pathways,
with the opportunity to earn bonuses through our Employee Referral Program.
- A team that backs you – join a supportive, friendly kitchen environment where you can lead by example and make a real impact.
What you will be doing:
- Supporting the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen leadership, food service delivery and team coordination;
- Preparing and presenting quality meals across Club dining, functions and onsite services;
- Helping keep service running smoothly by coordinating workflows, stock, ordering and kitchen priorities;
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, presentation and kitchen cleanliness;
- Guiding, training and supporting kitchen staff and trainees in a hands-on way;
- Contributing ideas that improve efficiency, quality and the overall dining experience;
- Stepping up when needed and helping create a calm, organised and positive kitchen culture.
About you:
- An experienced chef who enjoys hands-on work, teamwork and taking pride in consistent, quality food service;
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar kitchen role, along with a minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery;
- Completion of the Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set, or willingness to complete it;
- A practical, reliable and team-focused approach, with the confidence to support others in a busy kitchen environment;
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate current within six months of commencement, or willingness to obtain one;
- Eligibility to work in Australia and a current resume outlining relevant experience;
- A valid C Class Driver’s Licence;
- Up-to-date flu vaccinations, or willingness to obtain.
If you are interested but not sure whether you meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
