About the Opportunity

Join our team in Osborne to provide mechanical fitting, machining and maintenance skills, craftmanship and knowledge to the Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) program in accordance with operational requirements.

Responsibilities

This position consists of the following major work components including:

- Installation, refurbishment, planned maintenance, set to work and defect rectification of the CCSM and the associated submarine systems.
- Management and completion of work packs under the guidance of Trade and Boat Team Leads.
- Delivery of completed work packs to the appropriate Trade Team Lead to support implementation and project close out in accordance with the “End to End” process.

This position has problem solving and complexity challenges including:

- The ability to accurately interpret complex work scopes and implement the task as outlined in the work pack and complete the work pack in accordance with CMS process.
- Conducting work on a CCSM, in restricted areas and confined spaces, considering incompatible operations and difficult working positions all of which need careful attention to detail when conducting tasks.

About you

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS





Trade Certificate 3 as Mechanical Fitter/Fitter Turner/Machinist.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Refrigeration as a dual trade.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Diagnostic/fault finding and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Commitment to work within WH&S; regulations.
- Experience within a heavy engineering/shipbuilding/ship repair industry.
- Good computer literacy, written and oral communication skills.

REQUIRED BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

- Work with minimum supervision and ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to undertake training as required.
- Honesty, flexibility and pro-active attitude.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
