Adaptive Manufacturing Pty Ltd is a family-owned South Australian business specialising in vehicle wheelbase extensions, GVM upgrades and installation of automotive accessories.
We are looking for a skilled Welder (First Class) / Workshop Technician to join our team in Lonsdale. This is a hands-on and varied position, with the primary responsibility being the high-quality welding and completion of chassis extensions on light commercial vehicles. The position would particularly suit someone who enjoys practical, technical work and takes pride in achieving a high standard.
About the Role
The primary task of this position is performing chassis extensions on light commercial vehicles, including preparation, accurate measuring, fabrication, fitting and welding.
The role will also involve:
- Performing high-quality welding of vehicle chassis extensions
- Measuring, preparing and fitting chassis components with a high level of accuracy
- Accessory fitment and adaptation
- Installation of suspension upgrades, fuel tanks and other vehicle accessories
- Assisting with mechanical, engineering and general workshop tasks
- Initial manufacture, installation and development of new products
- Assisting with testing, problem solving and improvements to new products and processes
- General workshop maintenance and keeping the workshop clean and organised
- Quality checking completed work and ensuring all work meets required specifications
- Working as part of a team and assisting with general workshop duties as required
About You
We require a skilled welder who is capable of producing high-quality work and takes pride in their workmanship.
Welding skills and a welding certificate are essential.
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Fitting, mechanical, engineering or automotive experience – an advantage but not essential
- Strong attention to detail
- Good measuring and precision skills
- Good organisational skills
- Practical problem-solving ability
- Initiative and the ability to work independently when required
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills
- A strong work ethic and commitment to producing quality work
- The ability to work effectively as part of a small team
- Forklift License an advantage but not essential
As a welder (first class)/workshop technician, you will need a general level of engineering and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to work accurately and adapt to a diverse range of tasks.
Training & Development
You don't need previous experience with our specific wheelbase extension products or processes. Full initial and ongoing on-the-job training will be provided for wheelbase extensions, accessory fitting, procedures, technical requirements and other tasks associated with the role. We are looking for someone who can combine their existing welding skills with initiative, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
