About This Opportunity

Join a collaborative, supportive and purpose-driven team within the Faculty of Science Infrastructure & Facilities portfolio. As a Senior Facilities Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the physical environments that underpin world‑class teaching, research and operational excellence. Based at UQ's Gatton Campus, you will work closely with stakeholders across the School of Veterinary Science, Agricultural and Food Sciences (AGFS), Gatton Farm operations and the broader Faculty of Science.

Supporting a diverse range of facilities and stakeholders, you will provide trusted facilities expertise, coordinate infrastructure and maintenance activities, and help ensure staff, students and industry partners can thrive in safe, functional and innovative spaces. This hands‑on role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across one of Australia's leading veterinary, agricultural and animal science precincts. Working across Agricultural and Food Sciences, Gatton Farm operations and veterinary facilities, you'll contribute to the success of teaching, research and industry engagement activities that support both the University and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinating facilities maintenance activities through inspections, issue identification, contractor engagement and timely resolution of infrastructure matters.
- Supporting infrastructure and capital projects through planning, stakeholder consultation, project coordination and defect management.
- Managing assets, equipment records, local databases and facilities systems to support operational excellence and informed decision‑making.
- Coordinating space allocation, access control and facilities operations to ensure efficient, safe and compliant use of Faculty spaces.

About You

- A relevant degree with subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant skills, knowledge, experience and education/training.
- Experience coordinating small facilities or infrastructure projects, including managing competing priorities, timelines and budgets.
- Strong customer service,



interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems within a scientific, research or technical environment.
- The ability to interpret scientific or technical requirements relating to equipment, facilities or infrastructure, and communicate these effectively to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative and judgement, and deliver practical solutions.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and skills in Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Experience in a higher education, research, scientific or similarly complex operational environment will be highly regarded.
