What does it take to turn a waste gasification component layout into a 3D part tree and a drawing set that a fabricator can actually build from? This is an AI and CAD Engineering Internship building the generative CAD pipeline for Zero-X, the engineering company turning waste into clean power. Zero-X is named to Quick Company's Most Innovative Companies list (Energy, 2018), funded by PTJ (Projekträger Jülich, the German federal research agency), and runs the Cometha project ("Waste to Methane") for the City of Paris.

You leave with the one proof employers hire on: a pipeline you built that nobody asked you to build. Everyone has a degree. Almost nobody has proof.

Not a task list. The thing you build.

You build the generative CAD pipeline that takes a waste gasification component layout and turns it into a 3D part tree and drawing set. You work on the first container-based waste gasification unit — the manufacturing is done, but tar reforming, gas conversion, and gas upgrades to methane or hydrogen are still open. You are on the hook for the parametric models that hold every component in place. You build the drawing set that a fabricator reads without you in the room.

The bar

You have built a CAD model outside coursework, and you can name what broke. A generative pipeline another person can run without you standing there. Kept a hard geometry problem on the table until the output was clean enough to manufacture. A part tree that a fabricator did not send back.

Who this is for

You work until the drawing set is clean. You are comfortable driving AI tools — Claude Code, Hermes, or Codex — and catching what they get wrong.



You do not need permission to rebuild a model that is not working. You have built something nobody asked you to build, and you can show it.

Where you do it — and why here

Thirty years building companies — New York, London, Tokyo, the Valley — and then it stopped mattering where the work happened. So the program runs on-site in Canggu, Bali. A modern company costs twelve people and a toolchain — so being wrong six times a year is part of how we build. The campus is 4,000 sqm, and the people who run the companies are on it every day. What happens after The path for Zero-X runs to Melbourne — the Energaia Institute, beside Monash. The destination role and its terms are agreed before you commit, never after. The internship is step one; paid work is the destination, for the ones who stay. Earned, not guaranteed.

Terms

Unpaid under Indonesian law. A room is available on campus — rent paid by you. Epic Solutions PT hosts the on-site program and assists with the C22B internship visa process. Daily lunch on us. Requirements A degree in mechanical engineering, computer science, or equivalent — you have proven you can finish something. You drive Claude Code, Hermes, or Codex every day and catch what the AI gets wrong. You have built a thing that nobody asked you to build. You can be on-site for 4–6 months.
