About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cafe Manager/Barista Allrounder to join our team at our Hamilton Hill location on a full-time basis. This is a pivotal role that combines operational management with hands-on barista expertise. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the cafe, managing staff, maintaining quality standards, and delivering exceptional service whilst actively working behind the counter.

This position is integral to the success of our business, requiring someone who can lead by example, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain our reputation for excellence in both coffee preparation and hospitality.

Key responsibilities

- Manage all aspects of daily cafe operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and stock management
- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based beverages and other coffee specialities to consistently high standards
- Oversee staff scheduling, training, and performance management to ensure a skilled and motivated team
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders for coffee, supplies, and other stock items
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with local regulations
- Develop and implement customer service protocols to consistently exceed guest expectations
- Troubleshoot and maintain cafe equipment, including espresso machines and grinders, with basic technical knowledge
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints with professionalism and problem-solving skills
- Contribute to menu planning and promotional activities to drive sales and customer engagement
- Work flexible hours including early mornings,



weekends, and peak trading periods as required

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a cafe manager or similar supervisory role within the hospitality industry
- Advanced barista skills with the ability to consistently produce specialty coffee drinks to a high standard
- Strong knowledge of espresso machines, grinders, and other cafe equipment
- Experience in staff management, training, and development
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Sound understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic accounting practices
- Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure during busy periods
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with team members
- Passion for coffee culture and hospitality
- Flexibility to work varied hours including weekends and public holidays
- A positive attitude and commitment to maintaining high standards
- Desirable: experience in pizzeria operations or food preparation would be advantageous
