As the Chief Governance and Risk Officer, you will oversee the Governance, Audit and Risk, Project Management Office and Parliamentary functions for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP).

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will provide expert guidance and support to the CDPP Executive Leadership team on all aspects of public sector governance and risk management, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, government frameworks, policies, and procedures.

This role influences the CDPP's strategic direction by ensuring governance frameworks enable the effective achievement of outcomes, support informed decision-making and reflect the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

Your highly developed leadership, management, analytical and communication skills will be critical when leading the Branch to successfully manage projects from initiation to completion, while ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget. You will apply sound judgement and develop productive relationships, including with the Director, Deputy Director, Commonwealth Solicitor, Audit and Risk Committee Chairperson and Members, and CDPP senior executives.

The key duties of the position include:

Role functions

- manage the delivery of Senate Estimates Briefs, Questions on Notice, the Annual Report, the Corporate Plan, and Business Action Plans;
- provide high-level strategic advice on policy, legislation, systems, and processes, managing a range of sensitive and complex matters within the area of responsibility;
- manage the audit and risk functions ensuring alignment with Government policies, legislative requirements and the CDPP’s broader strategic objectives;
- deliver high-level advice to the CDPP’s Executive Leadership on audit findings and emerging risks;
- consult widely, drawing insights from diverse internal and external sources to identify emerging risks, threats, and opportunities which support informed decision making; and
- build, maintain,



and strengthen relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance collaboration and influence positive outcomes.

Leadership

- set the strategic direction for the Branch, communicating objectives and expectations to create a shared sense of purpose and engender a commitment to achieving results. Bring people together and encourage information sharing, collaboration, cooperation and teamwork, capitalising on the diversity of team members to achieve enhanced outcomes;
- set clear performance standards, nurture talent, give timely praise, deliver constructive feedback and manage underperformance;
- maintain a high level of morale, motivating individuals and teams to achieve positive results; and
- develop appropriate succession planning, delegate effectively and mentor, coach and encourage individuals in their delivery of outcomes and career development.

Eligibility

- Australian Citizenship;
- The ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA NV2 security clearance is required; and
- Graduate or post graduate qualifications in a related field.
