Refr

Australia

Community and events lead Melbourne. Part time to start, with room to grow, you tell us how.

A referral today is a recommendation at best. Scribbled on a slip, handed over, and often never made. The patient leaves the clinic and disappears, and no one sees where they went. We're changing that. Send a refr, not a recommendation.

About Refr

Refr is a referral ecosystem that didn't exist before: allied health, GPs and specialists on one platform, with the whole patient journey tracked from start to finish. Physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists and others use it to send imaging, specialist and surgical referrals, and procedures like guided injections, in minutes rather than weeks, with Medicare funding where eligible. We call it a refr, and the range keeps growing.

Our view is straightforward: allied health clinicians should be able to lead more of the patient journey, and Refr gives them the tools to do it.

What we expect from everyone

However a role is defined here, this is what we back:

- Be bold. We're doing something new, so we back people who make the call and move.
- Own your work, all the way to done, and own it when something goes wrong.
- Sweat the detail. In healthcare, the small things are the whole thing.
- Communicate clearly. The right message, to the right person, at the right time.
- Take pride in your work. You'd happily put your name on all of it.

We care more about how you think than how long your CV is. Character and judgement first.

The role The core of this job is connection: getting the clinicians who use Refr talking to each other, and to us. You'll own community and events from the ground up, and there's no playbook here yet, so you'll write it. You've nailed it when two things are true: clinicians talk to each other on Refr without us prompting them, and we run a monthly event calendar every clinic wants an invite to. When you spot what the community needs next, you shape it, and we build it into the platform.

What you'll do

- Build and grow the relationships between the clinicians who use Refr, and between them and us.

- Plan and run our events, from small clinic dinners to bigger nights, start to finish.
- Work directly with the founders and our head of marketing on new ways to bring the community to life.
- Show up where clinicians are, online and in person, and keep the conversation warm every day.
- Feed what you hear back to product, so what the community needs gets built.

What you'll bring

- Proven experience building a community, from nothing to something people feel they belong to, across more than one format: in person, online, events, groups, whatever brings people together.
- A background in allied health or healthcare, or somewhere adjacent, so you understand the people you're building for. Or a track record of dropping into a new field and succeeding wherever you land. That flexibility counts here.
- A talent for events people actually want to attend.
- Comfort owning a function on your own, with the judgement to decide what matters first.

Nice to have: existing relationships across allied health, and experience growing a role as the company around it grows.

Why Refr

This is our first community hire, so the function is yours to define and, before long, yours to build a team around. We're one of the fastest growing companies in Australia, up around 40% month on month for the past six months, venture backed by Archangel VC, who back some of Australia's most ambitious companies. Thousands of clinicians already refer through Refr.

Be clear-eyed about the trade. We'll get the shape of this role roughly right, then it will change fast: the events you run and the channels you build now will look different in six months, and you'll have built the new version. This starts at two days a week. If you can show us that more days, or even full time, is a good investment, we're all ears, and the pay grows with the role.

We built this ad with AI and a human edit. That's how we work here, and how you'll work in this role.

- How to apply Send an email to [email protected] with anything you think we should see. No long form, no set attachments. Tell us about a community you've built and what made people stay.
