Role Description The Corporate Technical Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Sydney, NSW, responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of event production and corporate experiential projects. This role leads the planning, design, and implementation of audio-visual, lighting, staging, and related technical systems to ensure seamless delivery of world-class events.
The Corporate Technical
Director works closely with creative, production, and client teams to translate concepts into reliable technical solutions, managing budgets, timelines, vendor relationships, and risk assessments. Day-to-day tasks include supervising technical crews, conducting site inspections, reviewing technical drawings, coordinating equipment logistics, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and venue requirements. The role also involves continuous improvement of technical processes,
evaluating new technologies, and supporting WOOHAH’s commitment to innovative and human-centered experiences.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in event and production technologies, including audio-visual systems, lighting, staging, rigging, and show control.
- Experience in technical project management, covering budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and vendor coordination.
- Proficiency in technical documentation, such as equipment lists, CAD drawings, schematics, and risk assessments.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations, compliance standards, and on-site operational protocols.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience supervising technical teams and collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in live event environments and time-sensitive situations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical partners and clients.
- Background in live events, entertainment, experiential marketing, or related industries; experience with corporate events is highly beneficial.
- Relevant technical or engineering qualifications, or equivalent practical experience in event production and technical direction.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
