Role Description The Damage Mechanism API Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in The Gulf, NSW. This position focuses on inspecting and assessing piping and equipment in accordance with API standards, with particular attention to identifying, classifying, and documenting damage mechanisms. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting field inspections, reviewing equipment histories, preparing technical reports, and recommending inspection intervals or mitigation measures to ensure integrity and reliability.

The inspector collaborates with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to interpret findings,



support risk-based inspection programs, and contribute to continuous improvement of asset integrity practices. The role also requires adherence to safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards while maintaining accurate inspection records and participating in audits.

Qualifications

- Experience with API inspection standards (e.g., API 510, 570, 653) and damage mechanism identification and assessment.
- Knowledge of materials, corrosion mechanisms, welding processes, and mechanical integrity principles in industrial facilities.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, P&IDs;, isometrics, and technical specifications related to piping and equipment.
- Competence in preparing clear inspection reports, risk assessments, and recommendations for repair or replacement.
- Robust understanding of safety practices, regulatory compliance, and industry codes relevant to pressure equipment and piping.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel.
- Prior experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments is highly beneficial.
- Relevant technical qualification or certification in inspection or engineering (e.g., mechanical engineering diploma/degree, API certifications) is preferred.
